We provide investment and services throughout the Lloyd's underwriting lifecycle.

Whittington Capital Management Ltd ('WCM') is our Lloyd's registered managing agency which is authorised and regulated by the FSA.

The agency currently manages three active syndicates; 1910, 1955 and 1967:

Syndicate 1910 (Arrow)

Goldman Sachs' Syndicate, Arrow commenced underwriting in January 2008 writing predominantly property catastrophe reinsurance. With a capacity of £175 million for 2010 Active Underwriter Tom Milligan leads a team of 4 underwriters based in London.

Syndicate 1955 (Barbican)

Barbican Syndicate 1955 commenced underwriting in January 2008 with capital provided by Steel Partners II LLP, Carlson Capital LP and Whittington. Writing property, casualty and treaty business with a capacity of £190 million for 2010 Active Underwriter Mark Harrington leads a team comprising seven divisions across a range of business.

Syndicate 1967 (WR Berkley)

WR Berkley Syndicate 1967 commenced underwriting in June 2009 with capital provided by WR Berkley Corporation. Writing property and accident business with a capacity of £85 million for 2010 Active Underwriter Alastair Blades has a team of underwriters.

 

The agency's business was founded on the management of Lloyd's syndicates in run-off prior to the formation of Equitas and syndicate run-off management remains a core activity. WCM currently manages Syndicate 376, which is a substantial Lloyd's Central Fund syndicate in run-off.

In addition to managing syndicates, the agency provides finance, accounting and actuarial services to two live syndicates on an outsource basis.

The WCM Board and management team is experienced and qualified in the wide range of disciplines required to manage both live and run-off business successfully on a cost effective basis.

At WCM we offer a broad range of services in addition to the full managing agency function, including:-

  • Full novation of managing agency agreements for syndicates in run-off
  • Full and partial out-sourcing of run-off functions
